Hello, I’m Marcus#
Information technology is a crucial part of our society — we cannot live without it, and neither can I. Fortunately, my dad bought me a Commodore C64 back in 1985 when I was a kid, so I got in contact with computers early in my life and never looked back.
Now it’s 2025 and the world has changed. From home computers to cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence — a lot has happened through the decades. It’s no longer as simple as turning on the C64, sticking a tape into the drive, typing LOAD and playing a game or coding a Basic program.
From Then to Now#
Current smartphones are millions of times more powerful than the Commodore 64 from 1985 in terms of processing power, storage capacity, and graphics performance. The technological development over these 40 years has been breathtaking — today’s phones are more powerful than the supercomputers of the C64 era.
By the mid-80s, microchips were no longer a niche technology. They were rapidly becoming the invisible engines driving everyday electronics, personal computing, and specialized applications. Their compact size, increasing power, and decreasing cost fundamentally transformed how people lived, worked, and communicated.
